Kenneth Stavert, Baritone
Baritone Kenneth Stavert, a native of Southern California, recently completed his second year as a Resident Artist with Palm Beach Opera. He has appeared with the company as Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Gregorio in Roméo et Juliette, Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor, Sciarrone in Tosca and Guglielmo in Cosí fan tutte. Kenneth has performed with companies such as Glimmerglass Opera, Opera North, Center City Opera Theater, Cincinnati Symphony, Long Beach Camerata and the Delray Beach Chorale and has been hailed for his strong “sense of theatricality” as well as his “charming” stage presence.
Equally as comfortable with orchestral works, Kenneth has performed the baritone solos from Orff’s Carmina Burana, Fauré’s Requiem, Duruflé’s Requiem and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor.
Kenneth has won the 2nd place award in the Southeastern Region of the Metropolitan Opera Competition and was a regional finalist in the Central Region. He has twice been a winner of the Palm Beach Opera Competition. In 2010 he was a semi-finalist for the Houston Grand Opera Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers, and took first place in the Opera Birmingham Competition. In 2011 he was the Grand Prize winner of the Young Patronesses of the Opera / Florida Grand Opera Competition, and a finalist in the Ryan Center, Lyric Opera of Chicago auditions.
Kenneth Holds a Bachelor of Music in voice performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in Long Beach, California, and a Master of Music degree from the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. He currently resides in Cincinnati where he studies with Kenneth Shaw.
